Warner Bros. And Fox Settle Over "Watchmen"

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox have resolved their dispute regarding the rights to the upcoming film "Watchmen". The studios will present a settlement to U.S. District Court Judge Gary Feess and request that the case be dismissed.
Terms of the settlement were not revealed, but the deal is said to involve a large amount of money paid to Fox and a percentage of the film's box office grosses. Fox will not be a co-distributor on the film, nor will it co-own the "Watchmen" property, but it will share in revenue derived from it.

Fox picked up to the rights to the "Watchmen" graphic novel in the 1980s with Lawrence Gordon on board as producer, but the plan was eventually dropped. Gordon later pursued the project with Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures.
Fox sued Warner Bros. and claimed copyright infringement based on agreements the studio had with Gordon. On December 24 last year, Judge Feess issued a ruling that Gordon did not secure proper rights to "Watchmen" from Fox before pursuing the project with Warner Bros.
Now that the dispute has settled, the release date of "Watchmen" will not be changed and everything will go as planned. Fans can now look forward with great anticipation to the film's March 6 release in theatres.
