Sony Pictures Picks Up "Black Dynamite"

Sony Pictures has bought the global distribution rights to the retro actioner "Black Dynamite" for two million dollars at the Sundance Film Festival last Sunday.

The film is directed by Scott Sanders and is set in the 1970s. Michael Jai White portrays Black Dynamite, a kung fu fighting bad-ass who is modeled after Blaxploitation icons. He goes on a warpath against “The Man” when his brother is murdered and heroin is pumped into local orphanages.

The film's recreation of the feel and look of the '70s is really impressive. Check out the trailer below to see for yourself just how bad-ass the film is!

Sony is planning to release "Black Dynamite" sometime this year and is hoping to build the film into a cult movie franchise.
