"Ip Man" is yet to be released but already a sequel has been planned. When launching its soundtrack recently, Raymond Wong announced the plan to shoot "Ip Man 2" next year. In the sequel, having migrated to Hong Kong and opening a martial arts school, Yip Man's four major disciples will be introduced. Yip Man would openly teach Wing Chun to the public and eventually spread it across the world.
They're thinking of doing a worldwide talent scout for a suitable candidate to play Bruce Lee, Yip Man's most celebrated disciple. Donnie Yen says that both he and Wilson Yip have a separate candidate in mind, and they're debating over whether to look for one with solid martial arts foundation or looks, "In terms of looks, Danny Chan bears the closest resemblance. But we won't necessarily approach him. Perhaps, we would consider one with similar background and demeanour."
"Ip Man" is adapted from the life story of Yip Man, the grand master of the Wing Chun style of kung fu and sifu (master) of legendary kung fu superstar Bruce Lee. The film is scheduled for release in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore on December 18, 2008 and in China on December 19, 2008.
